At R3 Ltd our independent testing services for roads, runways and racetracks are based on over 30 years of research knowledge from the highways laboratory at Ulster University.
We are also applying the insight we have gained from one sector to another. An example of this is the work we have been doing at the Mandalika Circuit in Indonesia. Here, we have been playing our part in helping create a new world-class street racetrack surface material suitable for MotoGP and F1.
We have been acting as the asphalt technical consultant overseeing the design, methodology and construction of the racetrack surface advising the principal contractor and client helping them achieve best practice techniques and the highest level of quality control.
The racetrack surface asphalt is being designed to replicate surface characteristics that are similar to other racetracks that deliver desirable races. In doing this, we have been able to maximise the use of local virgin materials, equipment and staff expertise. This has highlighted the potential of Indonesia to the world as well as reducing the environmental impact and cost of importing.
